THE SHORT STORY:
CLARKSVILLE, TENN. – The Royals battled down to the wire on Sunday but came up just short, falling 4-3 to Austin Peay in ASUN play. Queens earned three singles victories, including straight-set wins from both
Laurenz Blickwede and
Gavin Ryan, but the Governors' doubles point proved decisive in the final result.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Austin Peay secured the doubles point with wins on courts No. 1 and No. 3.
- At No. 2 doubles, the Royals tandem of
Laurenz Blickwede and
Gavin Ryan fought their way to a 7-6 (7-4) tiebreak victory.
- In singles, Blickwede set the tone at No. 1 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory, while
Jan Montero Diaz took a 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 decision at No. 3.

Gavin Ryan followed suit with a confident 6-2, 6-3 win on court No. 4.
- Austin Peay answered with victories at No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6 to clinch the match, including a tight 7-5 third-set finish over
Win Steveker on court No. 2.
