Royals End Nonconference Slate with a Win at Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team will end its nonconference season at 3-6 after defeating Hampton (0-9) on the road today by a score of 15-8.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Ethan Scaffidi got the Royals going with a goal just 35 seconds into play as Queens strung together a pair of runs to build a 6-2 lead in the first quarter. The Royals then outscored the Pirates 5-1 in the second period, putting the game away with an 11-3 lead at the half.
 
KEY STATS & NOTES 
  • Ethan Scaffidi led the Royals with a new career-high four goals. Ryan McDaniel, Carter Petersen, Braden McNamara, Lawson Jones, and Jack Royer scored two goals each. Additionally, Sam Strother notched his first goal of the season.
  • Grant Isika recorded his most wins as a Royal in the face off circle, finishing the game 18-of-25. He also recorded eight of Queens' season-high 45 ground balls.
  • Jason Schreck tallied three caused turnovers and six ground balls on the defensive end.
  • Nicky West earned the win in goal after recording a career-high 12 saves in 47:33.
  • Aj Knox and Jonathan Angel scored two goals each for the Pirates.
  • Hampton's Ben Lieu recorded 16 saves in goal.
  • Queens put 31 of its 54 shots on goal.
