Queens Claims Back-to-Back Wins Over Omaha and NC A&T

THE SHORT STORY: 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens men's tennis team delivered an impressive performance at the Howard Levine Tennis Center, earning back-to-back 4-1 victories over Omaha and NC A&T.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Queens 4, Omaha 1
- The Royals started their day with a stellar performance against Omaha, taking control in both singles and doubles play.

- After splitting the first two doubles matches, Queens secured the early advantage as the pairing of Luke Coppage and Lukas Gosselin clinched a 6-4 victory at the No. 3 position.

- In singles action, Laurenz Blickwede continued his dominance at the top spot, earning a 6-4, 6-1 win over Mikhail Korkunov. Win Steveker followed up with a 7-5, 6-1 victory on court two, while Gavin Ryan battled back to secure a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 5.

- Although Jan Montero Diaz fell in a hard-fought match at No. 3, Queens had already secured the team victory before two matches were left unfinished.

Queens 4, NC A&T 1
- Later in the day, Queens carried its momentum into the match against NC A&T, posting another commanding 4-1 victory.

- The Royals opened doubles play with strong performances, securing wins on courts one and three to take the early point.

- Laurenz Blickwede set the tone again in singles action, cruising to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Ian Pedersen at No. 1.

- Win Steveker followed with a 6-1, 7-5 triumph at No. 2, while Luke Coppage delivered a decisive 6-3, 6-0 victory on court six to put the match out of reach.

- Jan Montero Diaz was the only Queens player to drop a singles match, falling in straight sets at No. 3.

NEXT UP
The Royals will now have a few days off before starting a four-match conference road stretch, resuming play against Florida Gulf Coast on Friday, March 14.
