The Short Story:
The Queens University of Charlotte baseball team plated eight unanswered runs in the middle innings of game one of a doubleheader to take down the league's newest member in West Georgia, 8-4. Junior right-hander
Landry Jurecka was flawless making his first appearance out of the bullpen tossing 6.0 innings allowing just one run on two hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-After both offenses were held scoreless in the first two innings, West Georgia jumped on the board with three runs on three hits in the top of the third inning. The Wolves capitalized on a walk and a hit-by-pitch to start the inning with an RBI single follow by a sacrifice fly. The scoring was capped by another RBI single through the left side to give the Wolves an early 3-0 lead.
-Queens would find their groove offensively in the fifth inning.
Tyler Peters got the rally started with a one-out single before
Will Budnick worked a walk. West Georgia exchanged the second out of the inning on a fielder's choice to put runners on the corners. Queens went to work with two outs as
Anibal Rivera reached on a catcher's interference call to load the bases. Queens capitalized on the misplay as
Jake Barbour laced a two-run single through the right side and
Nick Alderfer followed suit with an RBI single through the left side.
Justin Hudson rounded out the inning with a third straight RBI single up the middle to tie the game 4-4.
-For the second straight inning, the Royals were go to work with two out magic.
Will Budnick got the rally started in the top of the sixth with a two-out single to center field. A hit-by-pitch from
Jacob Grimes and a wild pitch put two runners in scoring position. The Wolves would pick up a strikeout in what looked like the end of the inning, but an errant throw from the catcher to first base allowed
Anibal Rivera to reach and bring home both runners for the 6-4 lead.
-Queens added a pair of valuable insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning behind timely hitting.
Tyler Peters delivered a one-out sacrifice fly to plate
Nick Alderfer and
Will Budnick followed suit with an RBI single to left field bringing home
Charlie Marcantel.
BY THE NUMBERS
-Coming out of the bullpen for the first time in his Royals career, Jurecka was outstanding retiring 16 straight Wolves to pick up his first win of the season.
-West Creek, New Jersey native
Jack Renaud got his second start of the season and turned in a quality 2.0 innings allowing no runs and no hits while striking out one.
-Senior
Nick Alderfer was the sparkplug for the Royals offense going 3-for-5 at the plate with an RBI and run scored. The multi-hit performance was the sixth of the year, and second straight for the Charlotte native.
-
Will Budnick also put together a solid game at the plate going 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.

Jake Barbour,
Justin Hudson,
Tyler Peters, and
Jacob Grimes rounded out the offense with a hit. Barbour, Hudson, and Peters added an RBI to their day.
-Junior
Anibal Rivera was incredibly disciplined at the plate working a pair of walks after falling behind in the count.
-Queens held the Wolves to five hits on the day, the lowest mark by an opponent this season.

The Short Story:
With the bases loading and the tying run at the plate in the top of the ninth inning, the Queens University of Charlotte baseball team were unable to complete the comeback despite a late ninth-inning rally from the Royals. The ball was flying out of Cole Field in game two as both teams combined to blast five home runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-West Georgia jumped on the board first in game two by capitalizing on a Queens error. With a runner on second and two outs, Landon Weidner laced an RBI single through the left side to give the Wolves an early 1-0 lead.
-In the bottom of the third inning, Queens tied it back up when
Anibal Rivera blasted the first pitch he saw to left center for a solo shot.
-The Wolves regained their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning by loading the bases with a pair of singles and a walk. Jacob Bowman cleared the bases with a grand slam to give West Georgia a 5-1 advantage.
-In the next inning, West Georgia added another run on two hits and a Queens error. Brady McDevitt delivered an RBI single through the right side to extend the Wolves lead to 6-1.
-Queens chipped away at the deficit in the top of the sixth inning following a leadoff double from
Nick Alderfer. A deep fly ball to right field from
Justin Hudson advanced Alderfer to third and
Charlie Marcantel roped an RBI single to cut the deficit to 6-2. The Wolves would answer right back in the bottom half of the inning when Noah Darden belted a solo shot to right field.
-The Royals would cut further into the deficit in the top of the eighth inning with a pair of runs.
Nick Alderfer got the rally started with a leadoff home run to left field.
Justin Hudson and
Chase Fogg would reach safely via a hit-by-pitch and walk before an infield groundout moved both runners into scoring position.
Tyler Peters would scratch across the Royals second run with a groundout, but the Wolves would escape the jam with an inning-ending play at the plate on a wild pitch. West Georgia used that momentum in the bottom of the inning to add an insurance run on a Blake Bradford solo home run to right center and give the Wolves an 8-4 cushion.
-In the top of the ninth, the Royals would threaten starting a two-out rally.
Anibal Rivera got the spark started with a two-out hit-by-pitch and
Jake Barbour followed it up with a double down the right field line to put a pair of Royals in scoring position.
Nick Alderfer would work a lengthy two-out walk to load the bases for the Royals home run leader in
Justin Hudson. The Wolves would put an end to the rally with a strikeout to secure the game two victory and even the series.

Charlie Marcantel delivered his second multi-hit game of the season with a 2-for-3 evening.

Jake Barbour and
Jacob Grimes rounded out the offense with a hit. Barbour knocked his team-best fifth double of the season.
-Freshman
Ryan Brown made his first collegiate start and tossed 4.0 innings allowing four earned runs across six hits while striking out two Wolves.
-Right-hander
Adrian Quezada made his first appearance out of the bullpen this season and twirled 4.0 innings allowing three runs on four hits and adding three punch outs.
