THE SHORT STORY:

MACON, Ga. – The Queens men's tennis team showed resilience on the road but came up just short in a 4-2 loss to Mercer on Tuesday afternoon at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Royals took an early lead by securing the doubles point with victories on courts one and three.

- The pairing of Jan Montero Diaz and Lukas Gosselin delivered a dominant 6-1 win at No. 3, while Laurenz Blickwede and Gavin Ryan fought their way to a 7-5 triumph at No. 1.

- Mercer salvaged a win at No. 2, where Nemanja Stefanovic and Marceau Fouilhoux edged out Luke Coppage and Win Steveker 6-4, but Queens still carried the doubles point into singles action.

- In singles play, Blickwede shined at the No. 1 spot, rolling past Stefanovic 6-3, 6-1 to extend the Royals lead. However, Mercer responded with straight-set wins at No. 4 and No. 6, leveling the match.

- A battle at No. 3 saw Jan Montero Diaz cruise through the first set 6-0, but Mercer's Prince Gandonou stormed back to win 0-6, 6-3, 6-3, giving the Bears the edge.

- Luke Coppage and Shingo Masuda were locked in a tight three-setter at No. 5, with Coppage taking the first set but trailing in a second-set tiebreak when play was halted.
