THE SHORT STORY:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A strong showing in singles play propelled the Queens men's tennis team to a 4-2 victory over Youngstown State on Tuesday at the Howard Levine Tennis Center. After dropping two of three doubles matches, the Royals bounced back in singles action, winning four of the five completed matches to secure the team win.

FROM COACH LEATU:
"The conditions today were really tricky with high winds against a very solid team. This match was a fight from start to finish and I'm so proud of how the guys bounced back after a tough doubles point. We will clean up a few things in doubles and use this moment as we go into our next match Friday at UNC Asheville."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The day began with doubles action, where Queens' duo of Win Steveker and Jan Montero Diaz grabbed a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.

- Youngstown State responded with wins at No. 1 (6-4) and No. 3 (7-5) doubles to take the first point of the match.

- Youngstown State quickly answered as Ethan Dasset defeated Jan Montero Diaz (6-2, 6-3) at No. 3 to put the Penguins back in front.

- Laurenz Blickwede then delivered a dominant 6-2, 6-4 win over Onder Balci at No. 1 singles to tie the match at 2-2.
