FROM COACH BROWN
"Sometimes it is harder to play against a team that's smaller than you because you end up getting a lot of offensive fouls and you can lose track of your body control. I saw that at times from our bigs tonight, but I told them before that the standard is the standard. I don't care if we're playing Carolina University or the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, we must focus on Queens and I thought we did a phenomenal job of that today."

THE SHORT STORY
A Royals win was never in doubt as Queens never trailed during Sunday afternoon's matchup with Carolina University. Holding a ten-point lead at the end of the first quarter Queens caught fire, scoring 26 points before the half. An exceptional performance by Alyssa Lewis led the way for Queens as she came one assist shy of a triple double.

  • Queens began to heat up from the outside during the second quarter as Ana Baretto drilled two three-pointers in the span of less than a minute, the next play Alyssa Lewis capitalized on poor transition defense, going coast to coast for a layup to give the Royals a 38-12 lead.
  • The Royals could do no wrong in the second quarter, shooting a scorching 59 percent from the field which ignited a 26-0 run over the final eight minutes to hold a 46-12 lead at halftime.
  • Carolina began to find some offensive flow in the 3rd quarter, scoring seven points in the first three and a half minutes, but the Royals offense matched their every blow, managing to keep a commanding 85 to 26 lead heading into the final quarter.
