THE SHORT STORY
Facing their first Big East opponent in program history, the Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team was unable to overcome 16 turnovers as Villanova capitalized with 25 points off turnovers to grab the first-ever meeting 94-74 on Saturday night. Despite the loss, the Royals battled the three-time national champions and cut a 20-point second-half deficit down to 10.
BY THE NUMBERS
-Senior
Nasir Mann reached double figures for the second game this season with a career-high 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field. The Gainesville, Florida, native added five rebounds and two assists across 31 minutes of work.
-Sharpshooter
Chris Ashby turned in 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting and 3-of-4 from downtown.
-Freshman
Jordan Watford stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, three rebounds, and four assists.

Yoav Berman and
Avantae Parker got their third straight starts and combined to score 18 points. Berman added three assists, one rebound, one block, and one steal to his line.

Carson Schwieger,
Gus Larson, and
Maban Jabriel provided valuable minutes off the bench. Schwieger dropped seven points and kicked out three assists while Larson and Jabriel added five points and three points, respectively.
-Bryce Lindsey led Villanova with a game-high 25 points and added three rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
-Duke Brennan recorded a double-double with 17 points and 20 rebounds, including 11 offensive boards.

NOTABLE MOMENTS
-In their home opener, Villanova used the early momentum to jump out to an 8-0 lead, capitalizing with two layups on a pair of Queens turnovers. The Royals eventually settled in as
Yoav Berman and
Avantae Parker converted and-one opportunities to head into the first media break down six.
-Leading 17-14 with 11:52 remaining in the first half, Villanova ripped off a 12-2 run as Bryce Lindsey accounted for 10 points to force a Queens timeout.
-After taking a 51-37 lead into the break, Villanova jolted out of halftime with a quick 6-0 run, capitalizing on three consecutive Queens turnovers.
-Trailing 65-46 with 14:02 remaining in the game, Queens sparked a 13-4 run over four minutes to cut the deficit back down to 10. During the run, the Royals held Villanova scoreless from the field.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
-Despite the loss, Queens finished the night with a 57-percent shooting clip while the Wildcats finished 51-percent.
-Villanova dominated the glass 42-20, including a 22-3 margin on the offensive board. The Wildcats managed to convert those second-chance opportunities into 20 points.
-The Royals depth was on display as the Queens bench outscored Villanova 24-5 on the night.
