Royals Earn Senior Day Win in Shootout

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team (4-12) closed its home slate this season with a shootout win over Saint Louis (5-10).

INSIDE THE MATCH
The Royals got on the board first this afternoon when Lilly Waters scored her first career goal in the 12th minute of action. A goal from fellow senior Enya Kemp followed in the 27th, giving the Royals a 2-0 lead that looked as if it would hold until the half. However, Saint Louis' Olivia Smith found the back of the cage in the 30th on a penalty corner to cut Queens' lead to one, 2-1, at the break.

The second half remained scoreless until Sierra Larson snuck a ball into the cage in the 58th minute to tie the match up and send things into overtime.

Neither team was able to score in the two overtime periods, forcing the match into a shootout. In the first round of attempts, both team put two balls in the cage to force a second golden goal round, where Kemp was able to put the game away for the Royals.
