LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team (5-5-2 overall, 0-1-2 ASUN) dropped a 2-1 decision at Bellarmine University (6-3-2 overall, 2-1 ASUN) on Saturday night despite a hard-fought second half. Junior
Cole Pumpian provided life with his second goal of the season to cut the deficit in half with 20 minutes to play.

TURNING POINT
After jumping on the board in the 26
th minute on a deflected clear attempt, Bellarmine extended their lead with a 67
th minute goal on a set piece. The Knights earned a look on the left side of the box and Nick Harshaw sent a ball to the back post, finding the head of a diving Martin Cadagan who put it away. With the time winding down, Queens cut into the deficit in the 70
th minute as veteran
Cole Pumpian diced his way through the Knights backline before ripping a strike into the bottom right corner of the net. The goal provided a spark for the Royals as their attack found a rhythm, but the Knights managed to keep the game where it was to capture the win.
KEY STATS & NOTES
- Cole Pumpian netted his third career goal, and second of the season. The Marietta, Georgia native totaled two shots across 87 minutes of work.
- Veteran Anthony Brown recorded his second multi-shot game of the season over 73 minutes.
- Six additional Royals, including Leontios Zacharia, Vitor Baptistelli, Michel Feldman, Valter Salavuo, Sindri Sigurdarson, and Michael Tzimoulis added a shot. Baptistelli and Tzimoulis added to the pressure with a shot on goal.
- Queens goalkeeper Matheus Rhormens picked up four saves in his 29th straight start.
- Bellarmine outshot the Royals 16-10, including a 6-4 mark on goal. The double-digit shot performance from the Royals was the fifth straight, and eighth of the season.
