Queens Remains Perfect in ASUN Play Behind a Dominant Second-Half Performance at Austin Peay

THE SHORT STORY
The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team used a dominant second-half performance shooting 52 percent over the final 20 minutes to remain perfect in ASUN play with a 67-60 victory over Austin Peay. The Royals were physical on the glass outrebounding the Governors 53-23, including a 17-6 mark on the offensive glass.

BY THE NUMBERS
-Senior Jaxon Pollard poured in double figures for the seventh game and third straight outing with 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field. The forward added eight rebounds to his line.
-Graduate student Leo Colimerio turned in 14 points on 50 percent shooting while adding seven rebounds and three assists.
-Senior Kalib Mathews reached double figures for the second straight game with 13 points. The Franklinton native added five rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal.
-Maban Jabriel nearly notched his first career double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. The 11 boards were a season-high for the freshman.
-Floor general Bryce Cash added six points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
-Yoav Berman and Nasir Mann played key roles off the bench combining to score 13 points and pulling down six boards.
-The Governors forced 17 Queens turnovers which were turned into 17 points.

NOTABLE MOMENTS
-After falling behind quickly 8-2 heading into the first media timeout, the visiting Royals started to find their groove cutting the deficit to 16-14 heading into the second media break. The Royals opened the game 1-for-5 and finished at 50-percent going into the under-12 break.
-Trailing 21-16 with 6:41 remaining in the first half, the Royals ripped off a 9-0 run to grab a four point lead. Nasir Mann sparked the run with a 5-0 surge himself.
-Queens opened the second half by connecting on five of their first six shots. The Royals used that momentum to go on a 14-0 run to grow their lead to 18.
-Trailing 57-44 with 8:35 remaining in the game, the Governors put together a 14-4 run to cut the deficit to three.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
-Queens improved to 3-1 all-time against the Governors with the victory.
-The 53 rebounds from the Royals were the second most this season, but the most against a Division 1 opponent.
-The four-game winning streak in conference play is the longest for the Royals since joining the ASUN in 2022. The last time the Royals won four straight conference games was 2021.
-Queens improved to 10-0 this season when leading at halftime.

NEXT UP
Queens will continue their ASUN road swing on Thursday, January 16th when the Royals travel to the Sunshine State for a showdown with Stetson. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus. Fans can purchase their tickets in advance by visiting the Stetson Athletics website. The meeting will be the second this season after the two schools met to kick off ASUN play last week. The Royals won that game in Charlotte by a final score of 96-87.
