The Short Story: Despite multi-hit performances from Matthew Corlew and Zach Weston, the Queens University of Charlotte baseball team dropped the series opener with Stetson on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Stetson jumped on the board first with a pair of runs in the first inning. Following a leadoff walk, Queens starter Carson Magill retired the next two Hatters via fly outs. However, the visitors went to work as Logan Hughes sent an RBI single down the left field line to plate the first run. A two-out walk brought up Lorenzo Meola who sent an RBI single to center field to cap off the Hatters two run inning.
-Queens answered in the bottom of the first inning when Matthew Corlew blasted a solo home run to right center.
-The Hatters responded in the second with five runs on two hits and one Royals error. Stetson capitalized on three walks and a hit-by-pitch to extend their lead to 7-1.
-Stetson added four more runs in the fourth inning with four hits. The scoring was capped off by an RBI single from Kyles Jones to give the visitors an 11-1 advantage.
-Queens responded in the bottom half of the fourth with two runs on three hits. Nick Alderfer got the frame started with a double to right center before Will Budnick singled to left field putting runners on the corners. Tyler Peters delivered a clutch double down the right field line to plate Alderfer before a sacrifice fly from Mason Kelly capped off the scoring.
