Queens’ Season Ends in Regular Season Finale with Lindenwood

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Royals (9-8, 3-3) traveled to face Lindenwood (13-4, 3-3) this afternoon in a regular season finale that would decide the fourth and final spot in the ASUN Championship. The Royals were edged 13-12 by the Lions, bringing their 2024 campaign to a close.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Queens played a strong first quarter offensively to build a 4-2 lead before the Lions got hot in the second period and used a 6-2 run to take an 8-6 advantage into the halftime break.

The Royals fought to close the gap for the entire second half, as the Lions extended their lead to three on five different occasions. The Royals scored back-to-back goals to pull within one, 13-12, late in the fourth, but Maura O'Donoghue's goal at 1:40 would be the final of the day as Queens couldn't find another in the closing seconds of regulation to force overtime.

HEAD COACH KELLY MCQUILKIN'S QUOTE
"I'm so incredibly proud of this team. Today really stings but it doesn't define this group. I would choose them every single day to go to battle with. Thank you to our seniors and our super seniors for all your contributions to this program, you will be missed."
