CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Royals (4-3) picked up their first home loss of the season this afternoon, falling 13-8 to Robert Morris University (1-6).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Colonials came out strong in today's game scoring three unanswered goals in the first quarter. Queens would find the back of the net for the first time in the second quarter, eventually cutting the lead to one, 3-2, before Robert Morris went on a 5-0 run to end the half in front, 8-2.
The Royals found their momentum in the third quarter outscoring the Colonials, 5-2, to cut the margin to three, 10-7. However, Robert Morris scored three more goals to Queens' one in the fourth period to hold off the Royals' comeback.
KEY STATS & NOTES
- Kayleen Favreau matched her career high in goals, netting five on the day.
- Ainsley Thurston led defensively with four caused turnovers and three ground balls.
- Goalkeeper Caroline Kraemer took the loss for Queens after tallying three saves in 23:44. Gianna Coburn recorded two saves in 36:16.
- Sydney Riker of Robert Morris totaled 16 saves in goal.
- Lilli Hadden, Jerica Obee, and Isabella Teal each recorded hat tricks for the Colonials.
- Queens outshot the Colonials 31-25, putting 24 shots on goal.
- The Royals also won the battle for ground balls 27-14, but lost the battle at the draw, 17-7.
