CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Royals (4-2) defeated Duquesne University (5-2) this afternoon by a score of 14-5 to remain undefeated at home this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Following a goal from the Dukes at 13:22 in the first, the Royals went on a 7-0 run that put the game out of Duquesne's reach early.
Kayleen Favreau scored three goals during the run while
Elise Grissett was able to score two goals.
Out of the halftime break, Queens outscored the Dukes 4-1 in the third to put the game away for good as it extended their lead to 12-3.
KEY STATS & NOTES
- Kayleen Favreau and Ainsley Thurston each recorded hat tricks in the win, while Elise Grissett and Breelyn Geist added two goals each. Geist's goals were the first for the transfer since joining the Royals squad.
- Thurston also led the Royals with six draw controls.
- Goalkeeper Caroline Kraemer recorded 13 saves in the win to match her career-high
- Haley Reeck led the Dukes with two goals.
- The Royals secured 14 draw controls to Duquesne's eight, and won the battle for ground balls, 15-11.
