Air Force Pulls Away Late to Defeat Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team (1-4) opened ASUN Conference play this afternoon at Air Force (2-4), falling 14-10 to the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 5-0 at the close of the first quarter, Queens used a second-quarter push to close the gap to just one, 5-4, at the halftime break.

Queens quickly tied the game in the third before a pair of goals followed for the Falcons to keep them in front. The two squads then traded goals up until the Royals scored back-to-back to knot the game at 9-9 with 1:55 on the clock. However, the Falcons would score in the final minute of the quarter to take control once again. The goal was the first of a 5-0 run that Air Force ended the game with to secure their win.

HEAD COACH NIK COLPITTS' QUOTE
"Today was another step forward for our program. We put ourselves in a position to win the game at the end but unfortunately, we just made too many mistakes in the fourth quarter which Air Force took advantage of. Although I am proud of our effort, we cannot be satisfied with the execution down the stretch or the result. It is still early in conference play, so we are excited to get back to Charlotte and prepare for a quick turnaround against a strong Lindenwood team on Wednesday."
