THE SHORT STORY
In their final game of 2024, the Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team gave the nationally ranked Ole Miss Rebels a scare in Oxford falling 80-62 inside the Sandy and John Black Pavilion on Saturday night. Turnovers proved to be the difference as 21 Royals miscues were turned into 24 points by the Rebels.

BY THE NUMBERS
-Freshman Maban Jabriel paced the offense with a season-high 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting from behind the arc. Jabriel matched his season-high with seven rebounds across 27 minutes of work.
-Sharpshooter Chris Ashby added 14 points on 4-of-11 shooting from deep. The Houston, Texas native has made three or more shots from deep in eight games this season.
-Leo Colimerio turned in double figures for the eighth game this season, and third straight outing with 13 points. The graduate student tacked on four rebounds and three assists.
-Charlotte native Bryce Cash matched his career-high with nine assists.
-Asjon Anderson played a key role off the bench scoring eight points, grabbing three rebounds, and dishing out an assist.
-Despite shooting 7-of-21 from behind the arc, the Rebels used their size and physicality to cash in with 42 points in the paint.
-Queens drained 11 shots from deep marking the fifth game this season that the Royals have knocked down double digit shots from downtown.

NOTABLE MOMENTS
-Queens opened the Saturday showdown playing with an edge trailing 18-15 heading into the second media timeout. During that span, Queens shot 60 percent from the field while holding Ole Miss to a 41 percent clip.
-The Rebels struggled to close out on the perimeter as Chris Ashby buried three shots from downtown in the first half. The mark led the way for Queens as they drained six shots from downtown in the opening 20 minutes.
-The defensive pressure from the Royals head Ole Miss to a four-minute scoring drought from the field to start the second half.
-Leading 45-42 with 13:45 remaining in the game, the Rebels ripped off a 7-0 run to grow their lead to 10.
-Leading 61-54 with 7:27 to play, Ole Miss sparked a 13-3 run capped off by a Matthew Murrell three pointer to force a Royals timeout.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
-The 21 turnovers by the Royals tied a season-high.
-Queens dropped to 6-1 on the year when outrebounding their opponent. The Royals won the battle on the glass 34-33.
-The loss snapped the Royals four-game winning streak, the longest since 2022.

Queens will break for the holidays and return to action on Thursday, January 2nd when the Royals kick off ASUN play against the reigning tournament champions from Stetson.
