Queens Falls in ASUN Tournament Quarterfinals Despite First Career Goals from Cole Pumpian and Rodrigo Canovas

DELAND, Fla. – Making their second straight Atlantic Sun Tournament appearance since joining the league in 2022, the Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team fell in the quarterfinals to Central Arkansas by a final score of 3-2. Despite the loss, Queens saw Cole Pumpian and Rodrigo Canovas net their first career goals.

TURNING POINT
All tied 1-1 after a half of action, the second half saw a defensive battle for the front half of the final 90 minutes. Central Arkansas broke that defensive battle in the 76th minute as Tajio James ripped a deep shot from the top of the box into the bottom left corner of goal. Just four minutes later, the Royals responded by capitalizing on their second set piece from the corner. Caio Brandao sent a ball in finding the head of Milan Miric. A shot was deflected by the Bears backline before falling to Rodrigo Canovas who beat the Bears goalkeeper. Central Arkansas wasted no time responding as James netted his second goal just three minutes later for the game-winner.

With the loss, the Royals 2024 season comes to a close. Central Arkansas advanced to face top-seeded Stetson on Monday, November 11th in the semifinals.
