THE SHORT STORY
Despite a relentless defensive performance from Queens, in particular
Malcolm Wilson which included 10 rebounds and six blocks, the Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team fell 65-53 at Appalachian State on Tuesday night. The Royals struggled to connect offensively shooting 31 percent from the field and 6-of-37 from downtown.
BY THE NUMBERS

Malcolm Wilson turned in his third 10-rebound performance across 23 minutes of work. The center added six more blocked shots to his line as he continues to lead the nation in blocks.
-Making his first career start as a Royal,
Asjon Anderson led the Royals with 13 points while adding a pair of assists and two steals.

Kalib Mathews turned in a quality 15 minutes off the bench. The Franklinton native pocketed six points, two rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal.

Jaxon Pollard recorded eight points, two boards, one assist, and one steal across a season-high 24 minutes of work.
-Charlotte native
Bryce Cash packed the stat sheet with five points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Cash matched his career-high with eight boards and brought down five on the offensive glass for the second time in his career.
-CJ Huntley led the Mountaineers with 27 points and eight rebounds.
-Appalachian State won the battle on the boards 49-43. However, Queens won the offensive glass 18-11 and converted on the second chance opportunities with 12 points.
NOTABLE MOMENTS
-The opening half saw four ties and six lead changes as both offenses struggled to connect early taking an 8-8 tie into the second media timeout of the first half.
-Appalachian State sparked a 14-2 run over the final 3:47 of the first half to take a 31-24 lead at the break. The run was capped off by a buzzer-beating three from Myles Tate to close out the half.
-The final 20 minutes was a half of runs, particularly for the Mountaineers. Appalachian State jolted out to an 11-6 run to extend their lead to 12. Queens answered with an 11-3 surge of their own to cut the deficit back to four at 45-41.
-Halfway through the second half, Appalachian State ripped off a 17-5 run to grab their largest lead of the game at 16.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
-Queens struggled to connect from downtown going 6-for-37 from behind the arc. The 37 attempts were the fourth most in a single game in Division 1.
-The Royals fell to 1-18 on the road over the last two seasons.
-The 53 points were tied for the second-lowest scoring output by Queens since the transition, and the least since November 19, 2023, against Drexel.
