Feldman and Bourlot Jaeggi Score in Battle with No. 8 Clemson on Tuesday Night

CLEMSON, S.C. – Facing the reigning national champions from Clemson on Tuesday night, the Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team gave the No. 8 Tigers everything they could handle in a 4-2 loss. The Royals set the tone with a pair of goals in the first half, but three unanswered goals from the Tigers sealed the victory for the ACC foe.

TURNING POINT
Queens put the Tigers on upset watch in the 26th minute when Jamahl Brown found Michel Feldman in the box and the junior beat the Clemson goalkeeper to the right side for a 1-0 lead. Just 20 seconds later, the Tigers answered when Wahabu Musah found the back of the net. Queens remained poised and gained another scoring opportunity in the 31st minute. Michel Feldman sent a cross to Caio Brandao who ripped a shot at the diving Clemson goalkeeper. The save deflected back to Ciro Bourlot Jaeggi in front of the net resulting in the putback goal. Clemson answered three minutes later on a set piece just outside the box before taking their first lead of the match with a 43rd-minute goal. The nationally ranked Tigers added an insurance goal in the 64th minute off a tough header from Tyler Trimnal to secure the 4-2 victory.

KEY STATS & NOTES
  • Junior Michel Feldman netted his third goal of the season, and 10th of his career on Tuesday night. Feldman also set up the Royals 31st minute goal with a key cross into the box.
  • Veteran Ciro Bourlot Jaeggi scored his third goal of the season and six of his Royals career. The Santa Fe, Argentina native ripped three shots across 66 minutes of work.
  • Waxhaw native Jamahl Brown dished out his second career assist on the 26th-minute goal.
  • Making his seventh career start in goal, freshman Matheus Rhormens faced 11 shots on goal and picked up eight saves.
  • Sophomore Oliver Kneer rounded out the offense with a shot on goal to wrap up the first half.
  • Samuel Idinge and Leontios Zacharia turned in 90-minute performances. The complete game marked the 31st straight for Idinge as he continues to close in on the most minutes played by a Royal.
  • Clemson outshot Queens 21-7 on the night. However, the Royals were efficient placing six of their shots on target.
  • Tuesday night marked the Royals third outing with a Top 25 opponent, and second this season. Queens fell to 0-3 in those matches.
 
UP NEXT
Queens will continue their three-game road trip this weekend when they head to Florida for a showdown with Jacksonville on Saturday, October 19th. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and the match will be broadcast on ESPN Plus.
