Three Royals Notch Double-Doubles at North Alabama on Saturday Night

The Short Story: Despite three different Royals recording a double-double, the Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team was unable to overcome the University of North Alabama on the road falling 90-84.

BY THE NUMBERS
-Junior Deyton Albury notched his second double-double as a Royal behind a career-high 29 points. The floor general added 11 rebounds, seven assists, and a steal to his line.
-Forward BJ McLaurin turned in his third double-double of the year, and fourth of his career with an 18-point and 11 rebound effort.
-Newcomer Jacobi Sebock rounded out the Royals double-doubles as the sophomore poured in a season-high 14 points and pulled down a season-high 11 rebounds across a season-best 26 minutes of work. The Midwest City, Oklahoma native was relentless on the offensive glass bringing down six boards marking the most by a single Royal this season.
-Three-point specialist Chris Ashby turned in his second straight double-digit performance with a 12-point performance. The junior is averaging 9.0 points and 2.7 three-pointers per game in ASUN play this year.
-Queens put together a solid second-half shooting mark from the field making 53 percent after going shooting 37 percent in the first half.
-The Lions shot lights out from behind the arc burying 13-of-19 three-pointers on Saturday night.
-Queens capitalized on the aggressive perimeter defense from North Alabama by scoring 44 points in the paint.
-The free throw line proved to be the difference maker as the Royals went 19-for-29 from the stripe while the Lions shot 17-of-22 on their chances.
 

NOTABLE MOMENTS
-Trailing 22-17 with 6:48 remaining in the first half, the Royals sparked an 8-3 run forcing four Lions turnovers during that span to tie the game up 25-25 heading into the final media timeout.
-The first 20 minutes were a back-and-forth affair seeing five ties and seven lead changes. The largest lead of the half came in the final minute as the Lions grew their advantage to five.
-North Alabama opened the second half on a 10-5 run capped off by a Jacari Lane three-pointer to force an early Queens timeout.
-Trailing 71-65 with 6:40 remaining in the game, the Lions sparked a 13-1 run to recapture a 78-72 lead. During that run, Dallas Howell scored 11 straight points for the Lions, including back-to-back three-pointers.
 

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
-The double-doubles from Albury, McLaurin, and Sebock marked the second time in Division 1 history that three players recorded a double-double in the same game. The last trio to do so was Kenny Dye, Gavin Rains, and Jay'Den Turner in the Division 1 opener against Marshall last season.
-A career-high 29 points from Deyton Albury marked his eighth game this season scoring 20+ points. The Nassau, Bahamas native is second in the league in scoring pouring in 17.8 points per game.
-Queens fell to 1-5 on the year in games in which they missed eight or more free throws.
-The Royals only cashed in on seven three-pointers on the night. Queens is 1-10 on the season when making eight or less shots from downtown.
-The road loss extend the Royals winless streak on the road to 12 straight.
