Queens Falls at North Florida Despite Career-High 18 Points from Bryce Cash

THE SHORT STORY: Despite a career-high 18 points from rookie Bryce Cash, the Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team dropped their third consecutive league battle falling at North Florida 91-75 on Saturday night.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Freshman Bryce Cash mailed in his best performance of his young Royals career netting a career-high 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting. The performance was the Charlotte natives third time breaking double figures this season.
  • Nassau native Deyton Albury led the Royals with 26 points on the night. The junior guard also pulled in six rebounds and dished out a pair of assists. Albury finished one point shy of his career-high as he has poured in 20+ points in eight games this season, including two straight.
  • Charlotte native AJ McKee added 13 points of his own as he has reached double figures in 19-of-20 contests. McKee stuffed the stat sheet pulling in a team-leading seven rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block. 
  • Chaz Lanier led the way for the Ospreys pouring in 20 points.
  • The Ospreys offense was incredibly efficient Saturday evening shooting 51 percent from the field, and 43 percent from behind the arc.
NOTABLE MOMENTS
  • The two sides traded baskets early before the hosting Ospreys caught fire going on an 11-0 run to take a 27-16 lead in the first half. North Florida would take a 38-31 lead into halftime.
  • The Ospreys came out scorching hot in the second as they hit six threes before extending their lead to 76-57 with 8:51 to play.
  • North Florida began attacking the basket and getting to the free-throw line extending their lead to as large as 89-63 with 4:33 remaining in the game.
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
  • The Ospreys shot a scorching 61 percent from the field in the second half, including an 8-of-15 mark from behind the arc.
  • After a season-low performance at the charity stripe on Thursday night, the Royals executed against the Ospreys going 11-for-12 from the line.
  • The Royals looked to attack the basket all evening totaling 40 points in the paint. Queens shot 53 percent from the field in the second half but were unable to find an answer defensively to the Ospreys hot shooting.
  • North Florida made 16 three-pointers on the night, a mark that a Royals opponent hasn't hit since February 13, 2021.
 
NEXT UP
The Royals are back in action next Wednesday, January 24th as they host Central Arkansas inside Curry Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus. Queens faced Central Arkansas once last year falling in Charlotte 92-91.
