2023-24 Queens Men's Golf Schedule Released

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's golf team announced their schedule for the 2023-24 season Friday afternoon. The schedule features four matches in September and October and five matches in March and April before the Atlantic Sun Championship scheduled for April 21-23.

The Royals begin the season on Monday, September 11th with a two-day event hosted by Davidson University at the River Run Collegiate. Last season, Queens placed ninth of 17 teams at the same event with a 887 (+23) team score. Davidson won the event, barely edging out East Carolina by three strokes. The Royals will stay in North Carolina for the JT Poston Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina, two weeks later. The event will be held in Sapphire on September 25th and 26th.

Queens follows this with two matches in the Triad area in October beginning with the Elon Fall Classic on October 16th and 17th. It will be the second consecutive season the Royals play in a match at Elon University, as they finished sixth out of 17 teams at the Elon Phoenix Invitational last October with a team score of 848 (-4) at the Alamance Country Club. The team finishes the fall season with a four day event at the UNCG Bryan National Collegiate event in Greensboro. The event begins October 28th and finishes October 31st

The team will travel south to Daytona Beach, Florida to begin the spring season as they compete in the Stetson Spring Invite on March 4th and 5th. The meet is hosted by fellow Atlantic Sun member, Stetson University and the Royals hope to improve upon their sixth place finish of 13 teams from last fall in the same event. A week later, the team travels to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for the Surf Club Invitational hosted by Appalachian State. The team finishes March a week later as they stay on the coast for ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville, North Carolina. In the same event last spring, Queens finished eighth of 16 teams with a 897 (+33) team score and 8-7 won-loss.

In April, the Royals travel to Kannapolis for another event hosted by Appalachian State. On April 8th and 9th, the Mountaineers host Irish Creek Collegiate in a match the Royals view as an opportunity to clean out a bad taste from the event last fall. In the Irish Creek Invitational last October, Queens finished a season-worst 15th out of 15 teams with a 0-14 won-loss record and +51 score. The final regular-season match occurs a week later with the Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg. This is another event the Royals struggled in last Spring as they finished 12th of 17 teams with a +19 score.

The team welcomes three freshmen to the team in Ed Davis, Dean Richards, and Carter Sayman. Davis and Richards are international players as Davis arrives from the Stowe School in the United Kingdom and Richards from Oxford Falls Grammar School in Sydney, Australia. Sayman comes from the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. There are additional international players from countries such as the Czech Republic, England, and UAE.

The Royals bring back key returners in John Fahey, Brad Grajzar, and Thomas Taylor-Cross. Each of these players return after playing in at least 21 rounds and an average score between 73.09 and 74.62.
