WEEKEND PREVIEW: Royals Take on FGCU and Stetson in Home Slate

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Royals look to bounce back into the win column as they take on the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles and the Stetson Hatters in weekend ASUN play in the Levine Center starting at 6:00 PM on Friday, Sep. 29.

LAST TIME OUT...
- Saturday began conference play for the Royals. The Royals weren't able to come out with a win as the Bellarmine Knights squeezed out a 3-2 victory by scores of 30-28, 17-25, 25-22, 23-25, 9-15 in Louisville.

- The Royals would finish the day hitting .188 as a team while the Knights would tab a .239, Bellarmine's second-highest hitting percentage in a match on the year.

- J. Johnson would tally 21 kills against Bellarmine, a career-high for the junior outside hitter. J. Johnson stated after her career day; "individual accomplishments are a reflection of team work. As a hitter, I am always looking for ways to reward the passer and my setter. Starting conference play this way helps my confidence heading into the heart of a tough ASUN schedule."

- Additionally, Anna Law tabbed a season-high 10 kills while Kendall Buish assisted with 45, a season-high for the junior.

- Jesse George led the match with 23 digs, solidifying her spot as second-ranked in the ASUN with an average of 4.63 digs per set. As of Sep. 28, the Royals (as a team) still sit atop the ASUN in digs per set with 17.9.

SCOUTING FLORIDA GULF COAST
- The Eagles are 2-0 in ASUN play after a successful ASUN home-opening weekend in Fort Myers, Fla. against Jacksonville and North Florida — taking both matches by scores of 3-2.

FGCU is led by Shelby Kent in the kills department with 129 total on the year. Juliana Lentz sits with 63 blocks on the year, leading the Eagles and earning herself a second-place ASUN ranking. Lily Tessier sits in eighth place in assists in the ASUN with 7.83 avg./set.

SCOUTING STETSON

- Sophia Groom, reigning ASUN Defensive Player of the Week, leads the team and the ASUN with 65 total blocks. Groom tabbed a 10-block performance in Saturday's win over Jacksonville
