Jan Delkeskamp Named Queens Athletics Chief of Staff

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte Director of Athletics Cherie Swarthout announces the hiring of Jan Delkeskamp as the department's chief of staff. Delkeskamp joins the Royals staff after completing his collegiate swimming career as a member of the Queens men's swimming team.

"Jan's impact as a student-athlete was amazing," Swarthout commented. "As both a swimming and academic all-American, Jan leveraged the full potential of our university in his five years on campus. His journey makes him uniquely qualified for this role because of the connections he has created and the passion he has for Queens."

As the chief of staff, Delkeskamp will oversee the effective and efficient operations of the office of the director of athletics while also contributing to the development and completion of priority initiatives and projects in collaboration with members of the leadership team. In addition, he will aid in tracking the leadership progress and development across the athletic student body which will include him having a hand in the SAAC and the Royals Leadership Academy. As a member of the leadership team, Delkeskamp will also help identify strategic priorities and provide advice on policies, procedures, and operational matters of the University.

"It is my honor and privilege to continue serving our Royals family in this leadership position, and building upon my impactful career as a student-athlete and leader on our Queens campus the past five years," Delkeskamp stated. "Excited for the opportunities ahead, I would like to express my tremendous gratitude to President [Dan] Lugo, Cherie Swarthout, and Queens' leadership for placing their trust in me and believing in my potential to make a lasting difference."

Before joining the Royals on staff, Delkeskamp wrapped his summer internship at Software Projects Consulting where he worked in product development and marketing strategy. He earned his bachelor's degree from Queens in May 2023, majoring in finance and accounting with a minor in international politics & diplomacy and leadership. As a member of the men's swimming team, he served as team captain and helped lead the Royals to three national championship titles before Queens transitioned to Division I. This season, he helped the Royals secure their first DI conference championship and NIC title.

Delkeskamp was just as impressive out of the water as a Royal, earning the Pamela Davies Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award three times. He was also a four-time CSC Academic All-American and a five-time CSCAA Scholar All-American. In 2022, he earned the NCAA Elite 90 Award becoming the first male in Queens history to earn the honor, and he was a Walter Byers Scholarship Finalist in 2023.
