Royals Host No. 19 Utah in Regular-Season Finale

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team (2-12, 1-8) concluded its inaugural NCAA DI season this afternoon hosting No. 19 Utah (10-4, 9-0). The Royals would fall 18-6 to the Utes in the regular-season finale. Queens also celebrated Senior Day this afternoon while welcoming many men's lacrosse alums to today's game. 
 
How it Happened
The Utes scored three goals early in the game to take control this afternoon. Queens' first goal would come with 8:51 on the clock in the first and they would score one more before the quarter ended with Utah in front, 6-2. The Royals kept things much closer in the second, scoring two goals to Utah's three, giving the game a 9-4 score at halftime.
 
Utah would increase their lead to eight with three consecutive goals in the third, but a pair of Queens goals would pause the run. Unfortunately, the two third quarter goals from the Royals would be their last of the game as Utah went on to take the 12-point win.

  • Jacob Bowen led the Royals with two goals on the day while Joey Szabo tallied two assists.
  • Hayden Summers-Thompson finished with four caused turnovers on the defensive end.
  • William Powley took the loss in goal after totaling a career-high 21 saves.
