CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte women's rugby team captain, Alle English, was nominated for the 2023 MA Sorensen Award on Friday.

English got the nomination after leading Queens to an NIRA Divisional Championship for the first time this season. She also received the most nominations from the rugby community for the nation's top women's collegiate rugby player.

"As our current team captain, this nomination is a testament to the athlete Alle is. The extent of nominations she's received is also a testament to the type of person she is as well. Alle has excelled here at Queens on and off the field, and it's incredible that she's being recognized and honored by our larger rugby community." 

The nominees will later be cut down to a group of four to five finalists and a winner will be voted on by the awards panel from the Washington Athletic Club which will include MA Sorenson. The winner will receive her trophy at a gala event in Seattle in June.
