CHARLOTTE, N.C. -  The Royals returned home for the first time in five weeks Saturday afternoon, taking on Austin Peay in the first of three games in the team's home-opening conference series.
Austin Peay got on the board early with a trio of runs in the top of the second inning, which would prove to be the difference.
Kayla Smith and
Kasidi Staley each managed hits but the Royals were unable to bring any across the plate.
Autumn Courtney got the start for Queens and managed two strikeouts, later replaced by
Abby Craver who added another three.
COACH'S WORDS
"We did some good things today, but we still need to put it all together," said head coach
Kella Goins. "The good thing about a series is we get to try again tomorrow."
NEXT UP
The series continues on Sunday, March 26 as Queens will conclude the weekend with another pair of games against the Governors at 12 and 2 PM.
