Kaylee DeJesus Knocks First Home Run of the Season as Queens Takes on Campbell

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Queens hit the road for a single-game showdown with Campbell Wednesday evening. They managed to get a pair on the board early but a strong comeback effort saw Campbell take and hold onto the lead, as the Camels would come out on top, 6-3.

Kayla Smith got the scoring started early for the Royals. In the top of the first, she lined a triple down the left field line, scoring Ashlyn Mickler and eventually scoring herself as she advanced home on a throwing error.

After remaining scoreless for the first couple innings, Campbell put up a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning to knot the game at two, before adding another four in the fourth to pull ahead 6-2.

Queens got one back in the top of the fifth inning, thanks to Kaylee DeJesus who smashed her first home run of the season to cut the deficit to three.

Autumn Courtney started the game on the mound and managed six strikeouts before being replaced by Abby Craver who pitched the remained of the game, earning a strikeout of her own but ultimately being credited the loss.
