The Short Story: The Queens University of Charlotte baseball team managed six runners across the plate but it proved to be not enough as they'd fall to Davidson Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Will Budnick crossed the plate in the top of the first to give Queens an early 1-0 lead but that was short-lived as the Wildcats responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.
-A sacrifice and two doubles in the bottom of the second inning extended Davidson's lead to 7-1.
-The Royals got a couple of runs back in the top of the third on a pair of whacky events as a bases-loaded hit by pitch and a balk gave Queens their second and third runs of the game.
-Davidson opened the game up in the later innings, as they'd manage another pair of runs in the seventh, followed up with three runs in the eighth.

BY THE NUMBERS
-Sophomore Nick Alderfer had a nice game in the lead-off spot, earning hits on three of his five at-bats including a double.
-Freshman catcher JD Coleman extended his hitting streak to three games, effectively hitting three for four with a double.
-Despite just one hit, Will Budnick managed three RBI on the evening.
-Veteran Riley Cheek managed a pair of hits of his own, also drawing a walk.

NEXT UP
The Royals will welcome Tennessee Tech for a three-game series from March 3-5.
