Men's Tennis Sweeps Johnson C. Smith for Second Straight Victory

THE SHORT STORY: The Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team picked up their second straight victory with a sweep over Johnson C. Smith on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Royals swept the doubles point with strong performances on all three courts. Edoardo Bottino and Laurenz Blickwede dominated the top court 6-1 and improved to 4-3 as a pair. At No. 2, Edoardo Cecere and Win Steveker won their third straight match together with a 6-2 victory. Euan Lynes and Quinton McNamara rounded out the doubles action with a 6-1 win from the No. 3 court.
-Queens managed to take down the Golden Bulls in two sets on every singles court.
-Win Steveker improved to 2-0 from the top court with a 6-1, 6-2 route.
-Edoardo Cecere would grab the first set 6-1 before winning the second set due to retirement.
-Making his first singles start of the season, Euan Lynes notched a 6-3, 6-1 win from the No. 3 court.
-Junior Arthur Bazil cruised at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-2 for his first victory of the season.
-At No. 5, Zachary Dacuba notched his first career singles victory with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 performance.
-Making his first start as a Royal, Quinton McNamara rounded out the dominant single's performance with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
-The sweep marked the first since the Royals took down Limestone 4-0 in the opening round of the SAC Tournament last season.

NEXT UP
Queens will return to the court on Thursday, March 2nd when they host North Carolina A&T at 2:00 p.m. The match will be the Royals first home match of the season at the Howard Levine Tennis Center. Admission is free.
