Queens Unable to Overcome Second Half Scoring Drought at Drexel

The Short Story: The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team couldn't overcome a nine-minute scoring drought falling at Drexel University on Sunday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS
-Senior BJ McLaurin put together a solid afternoon on both ends of the court dropping 11 points and an assist while bringing down seven rebounds and a steal.
-Point guard Deyton Albury stuffed the stat sheet for the second consecutive game with 13 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
-AJ McKee reached double figures for the fifth straight game this season scoring 13 points. The Charlotte native added four rebounds and two assists as he matched his career-high with 38 minutes of action.
-Coming off a career-best performance on Saturday, freshman Bryce Cash poured in 10 points on a 5-for-7 clip from the field. The rookie grabbed six rebounds, including four offensive boards.
-The Royals lost the battle on the boards 39-34 and fell to 3-12 in Division 1 games when they were outrebounded by their opponent.
-Queens struggled to connect in the second half shooting 26 percent from the field and 18 percent from behind the arc.

NOTABLE MOMENTS
-As both offenses exchanged early baskets, Drexel went on a brief 8-0 run while Queens was held scoreless for over three minutes. During that span, the Royals committed three turnovers. The next three minutes saw the Royals answer with a 6-0 run while the Dragons went scoreless.
-Drexel opened the second half on a 13-2 run to grab their largest lead of the game to that point at 39-33.
-The Royals were plagued by a slow second half shooting 26 percent over the first 12 minutes of action. The Dragons capitalized with a 26-10 run shooting 69 percent from the field.
-Queens suffered a nine-minute scoring drought going 1-for-16 as the second half winded down.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
-After taking a 31-26 lead into the break, the Royals fall to 8-1 in Division 1 games when leading at the half.
-AJ McKee has now reached double figures in 36-of-38 Division 1 games, including seven straight dating back to last season.
-The 33 percent shooting mark from Queens was the lowest this season.

Queens will return home for a non-conference test on Wednesday, November 22nd when FDU comes to the Queen City. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. inside Curry Arena and the game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus. Fans can purchase their tickets in advance by visiting the Queens Athletics website. The meeting will be the second all-time between the Royals and the Knights, a program that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year after upsetting top-seeded Purdue. Last season, Queens took down FDU on the road 83-72.
