CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team is set to host their first Division I match in program history on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the Queens Sports Complex. The Royals will welcome in-state rival Gardner-Webb for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference clash at Dickson Field.
The evening is set to begin with fan fest at 5 p.m. outside the stadium complete with music, games, giveaways, a photo booth, and prizes. Additionally, JJs Red Hots will be in attendance serving Royals fans and families. The first 50 children in attendance will receive a 2022 Men's Soccer Schedule poster which the Royals players will be available to autograph post-game. Fans and students are encouraged to bring additional lawn chairs or blankets for extra seating.

In their inaugural Division I season, Queens has faced a tough start going 0-3 and 0-1 in ASUN play. The Royals have suffered losses to premier programs in Memphis and UAB before dropping their conference opener at Stetson over the weekend. Queens has yet to net their first goal at the Division I level, however, sophomore forward
Mario Goic has provided an offensive spark ripping seven shots so far and placing three on goal.
Gardner-Webb enters Wednesday night on a two-game losing skid after opening the season 1-2. The Runnin' Bulldogs took down Wofford in their season opener 1-0 before falling to Charlotte, 4-0, and Furman, 2-1. Through three matches, Gardner-Webb has been outscored 6-2 and hold a 1-1 record away from Greene-Harbison Stadium. The midweek match begins a six-game road stretch for the Runnin' Bulldogs. Jaylen Orr and Owen Zaldivar lead the Runnin' Bulldogs with a goal each, however Pablo Brimeux is a player to watch with a team-high 10 shots and six on goal this season.

Students and fans looking to attend the match can be chartered over by a bus at 5:30. The bus will be picking up in front of the Levine Center. All fans on the bus will receive a free voucher for a hot dog provided by JJs Red Hots. Please note, the bus will only be making one trip at 5:30 p.m.
