ELON, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team opened their fall season with a successful first day at the Elon Invitational. The Royals picked up seven victories on opening day, including four singles wins and three doubles victories.
In singles action,
Edoardo Bottino,
Edoardo Cecere,
Win Steveker, and
Quinton McNamara emerged victorious taking down opponents from Elon, Radford, and Longwood. On the doubles court,
Edoardo Cecere and
Laurenz Blickwede won their opening match over Hampton by a score of 6-4. Fellow Royals
Edoardo Bottino and
Lukas Gosselin paired up to take down JMU convincingly 6-2. Rounding out the doubles victories was
Euan Lynes and
Samuele Pia cruising past NC Central 6-3.
The Royals will return to the courts for day two of the Elon Invitational with play beginning at 9:00 a.m. All competing teams will just play singles play tomorrow before finishing singles and doubles action on Sunday. The tournament features 14 premier tennis programs from the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
