Mia Bonacore Joins Royals as Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, Ticketing, and Strategic Partnerships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte Director of Athletics Cherie Swarthout announces Mia Bonacore as the department's first assistant athletic director for marketing, ticketing, and strategic partnerships. Bonacore joins the Royals in year one of their NCAA Division I transition after spending last season as the director of marketing and fan experience at Stony Brook University.

"The addition of Mia to our team is another example of our purposeful advancement in excellence," Swarthout stated. "This month alone the department and University announced a two-million-dollar gift to support our efforts in transitioning to Division I and today we announce Mia's addition to our staff. It's a great day to be a Royal."

During her time at Stony Brook, Bonacore built and executed marketing campaigns to increase ticket sales and integrated Stony Brook Athletics throughout the Stony Brook University campus and hospital. Bonacore also oversaw all in-venue experiences including game scripts, spirit squads, and university mascot while also recruiting, training, and supervising 25-plus marketing and mascot staff.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to work with the Royals," Bonacore commented. "This is a tremendous time for growth and excitement in the city of Charlotte, to help build and grow Queens Athletics at the Division I level. This new position will allow us to collaborate on creative strategies to connect with and grow our fanbase. I am honored to be a part of this defining moment in Queens history. Looking towards a bright future, it's time for us to bring the community to our facilities, and experience what it's like to be a Royals fan."

Prior to joining the Seawolves, Bonacore spent two years at Van Wagner Sports as a marketing coordinator. While there, she was responsible for coordinating and fulfilling corporate partnerships for Stony Brook and the America East Conference championships.

"It's a great day to be a Royal," Queens associate athletic director for strategic planning and leadership development Jeff Dugdale stated. "If you know Mia, you know that she lives excellence as a lifestyle and delivers results at the highest level. Her passion is purpose-driven and people-focused and has a proven history of delivering remarkable fan and family experiences. Corporations are going to want to partner with Queens and Mia as we are in the business of delivering a high-quality product to our fans and families."

Bonacore earned her bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Oswego in business administration and public relations in 2015. She then earned her master's degree in sport management from the State University of New York at Cortland while working as a sports information graduate assistant responsible for live broadcast production of all collegiate teams. Bonacore completed her master's in 2019.
