CHARLOTTE, N.C. — From the month of April, Queens Athletics is proud to recognize Luis Vera Mayorca of men's soccer and Emma Norris of women's volleyball as the FieldTurf Royals of the Month, honoring their standout performances and impact for the Royals during the month.
Luis Vera Mayorca gave outstanding performances in the months of August and September for the Queens men's soccer team, establishing himself as one of the most productive offensive threats in the conference. Against William Peace on September 8th, he earned two goals and three assists in just 28 minutes. Vera Mayorca fueled the offense by racking up four goals and four assists throughout August and September. His individual performances pushed him to the top of the ASUN leaderboards for September, where he led the conference with 12 total points and four assists while ranking second overall with four goals.
Behind Vera Mayorca's contributions, Queens posted a 2-3-2 record over the course of September. Though the team faced a tough stretch, two of those losses came against high-caliber ACC opponents, Duke and Virginia Tech. This proves the competitive level of competition the Royals faced with the help of Vera Mayorca's amazing play.
