Nick Melton, and
Tanner Jacobson each had a pair of hits on the day. Cheek and Jacobson also had the Royals' lone extra-base hits on the afternoon, with Cheek lacing a first inning double and Jacobson belting his third home run of the season.
Blake Efird pitched four strong innings of scoreless relief, allowing just three hits. The outing was a new season long for the rookie.
Â
The Trojans jumped out to an early lead, scoring multiple runs in the second, third and fourth innings, while holding the Royals scoreless until the fourth inning. In the second, a two-RBI single, followed up by an RBI single on the next at-bat scored three in the second for the Trojans.
Â
In the third, the visitors would push across two more runs on back-to-back singles, before a two-RBI triple and a sacrifice fly scratched across three more in the top of the fourth. Heading into the bottom of the fourth, the Trojans held a commanding 8-0 lead over the Royals.

In the bottom of the fourth,
Tanner Jacobson belted the second pitch of the inning over the right-field fence, trimming the deficit to 8-1. The opposite field blast was the juniors third home run across the last two games. Later in the inning, an infield single scored another run for the Royals, as Queens trailed 8-2 heading into the fifth. The Trojans would respond, however, knocking in another run on a sacrifice fly.
Â
After two consecutive scoreless innings, the Royals broke the scoring drought in the bottom of the seventh pushing across their third run of the game. With runners on second and third and two outs, an infield single by
Tanner Jacobson followed by a throwing error scored a run for the Royals.
Â
Queens would threaten in the eighth, putting runners on first and second with two outs, however, a pop out would end the inning. The Trojans would extend their lead to seven runs in the ninth, after a stolen base and a single scored another Trojan.
Â
A walk and a fielder's choice would put a runner in scoring position for the Royals, however, a flyout to centerfield ended the game as the Royals fell to the Trojans 10-3.
