HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The top-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team moved to 10-0 on the year and 5-0 in South Atlantic Conference play after defeating Coker University, 27-1, on the road this evening. The 27-goal mark matches a single-game program record for the Royals.
Three Royals scored four goals in the win as
Kaitlyn Hardin led the pack with six points after also notching a pair of assists.
Kyleigh Masteran totaled four goals and
Sydney Bracken recorded four goals while also surpassing the 200 career draw control mark after tallying eight today. In addition,
Rebecca Kinsley notched five points on four assists and one goal, and
Shannon Donovan recorded a hat trick.
Once again, the Royals dominated play from the start to build an 11-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. With the clock running for the remainder of the game, Queens was able to put their offense on cruise control until the final horn sounded.
The Royals' defense also went to work on the field today allowing just three shots from their opponent. Their pressure forced the Cobras into committing 26 turnovers. In goal,
Sharn Muffett collected her first win of the season after totaling two saves.
Queens outshot the Cobras, 49-3, putting 42 shots on goal. The Royals also won the battle at the draw, 25-6, and totaled 34 ground balls to Coker's 15.
Queens will return to the Queen City on Saturday, Apr. 2 to face Tusculum University at 4 p.m.
