CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's rugby team defeated American International College, 33-14, this evening at the Queens Sports Complex to advance in the National Collegiate Rugby DI Semifinals.
It was all Queens in the first half as they were scoring tries and had numerous defensive stands.
Martin Pierce started the game off with a try by blowing past the defenders to give Queens the 7-0 lead. The Royals would score another try to make the score 14-0, but AIC would get a try late in the half to make the score 14-7 at the break.
Much like the first half, Queens scored the first try of the second courtesy of
Prince Louis-Bush. With Queens' lead increased to 19-7, AIC would then answer with another try to make the score 19-14.
Marshall Frank responded with a try for the Royals to increase the advantage to 24-14. Queens then put the game out of reach when
Chester Stanyon scored what would be the final try of the night to make the lead 33-14.
