Royals Play Overtime Thriller at Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team (0-13) traveled to the Northeast to take on Bryant (5-14) falling 2-1 in double overtime. The overtime game is the first for the Royals since they began their Division I journey.

Turning Point
After scoring the first goal of the game in the second quarter, Queens held its one-point lead until the fourth when Bryant was able to tie the game and force overtime. The Bulldogs then scored the game-winning goal just 1:05 into the second overtime period on a set play off of a penalty corner to snap their eight-game losing streak.

  • Sydney Smith's goal is the third of the season for the freshman who leads the Royals with six points.
  • Queens was outshot 28-4, putting three shots on goal compared to the Bulldogs' 16 shots on goal.
  • Bryant totaled 22 penalty corners and the Royals tallied eight.
  • Hannah Neyssen finished inside the cage with 14 saves. She now has 100 saves on the year which sets a new single-season record.
