DURAHM, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team opened up the ITA Division I Carolina Regional with four victories.
Edoardo Cecere led Queens as he advanced to the Round of 32 after taking down Elon in the Round of 128 and Gardner-Webb in the Round of 64. The senior will take on Karl Poling from North Carolina at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Edoardo Bottino continued to play well this fall with a victory over Coastal Carolina in the opening round while
Win Steveker advanced with a win over Davidson.
"I'm very proud of the way the guys competed today," said Head Coach
Michael Cabana. "We played a very high level of tennis today and we can really build on this to continue to improve. Cecere had an amazing day! To earn a spot in the round of 32 tomorrow in our first ever Division I ITA Carolina Regional is a big achievement and I look forward to tomorrows matches."
The ITA Carolina Regional is being hosted by Duke University at the Cary Tennis Park. Participating teams including Campbell, College of Charleston, Charlotte, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Davidson, Duke, Elon, Furman, Gardner-Webb, North Carolina, North Carolina A&T, UNC Asheville, North Carolina Central, N.C. State, UNC Wilmington, Presbyterian, South Carolina, South Carolina State, The Citadel, Queens, Wake Forest, and Wofford.
