Royals Winning Streak Snapped at Florida Gulf Coast

FORT MYERS, FLA. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team (3-10 overall, 1-5 ASUN) had their winning streak snapped by the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles (6-2-4 overall, 2-1-3 ASUN) on Friday night. The loss drops the Royals to 2-5 on the road overall this season.

Turning Point
The turning point of the evening proved to be a 19 second span in the final minute of the first half. After the Royals backline fought off countless opportunities by the Eagles in the half, Davi Alves scored two goals to give the home team all the momentum heading into the break. The quick scoring change was the difference in the match as the Royals were unable to overcome the deficit.

  • Graduate student Felipe Mendonca turned in his 10th multi-shot performance this season. The Salvador, Brazil native is averaging 3.0 shots per game as he is second on the team with 29 shots.
