CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Department of Athletics will host its annual awards ceremony honoring the accomplishments of its student-athletes in a virtual format through the Queens Athletics website and social media channels.
For the ninth straight year, the ceremony is being sponsored by InterCon Building Corp. InterCon has been an outstanding sponsor for the Royals as their generosity helped support the building of Byrum Hall, the tennis courts, and the Queens Sports Complex.
Departmental awards will be released weekly during the month of June and early-July as Queens will announce winners of the Royal Service Award, Royals Sportsmanship Award, Mark Kelso "Just Show Up" Award, Male and Female Comeback Athletes of the Year, Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year, and the Male and Female Senior Athletes of the Year. In addition to the individual awards, the department will also recognize performance-based accomplishments for teams and individuals including Men's and Women's Team Comeback Win of the Year, Best Male and Female Individual and Team Championship Performance, and Men's and Women's Upset of the Year.

Men's Team Winner – Baseball vs No. University of Mount Olive on March 10, 2021
The Queens University of Charlotte baseball team entered the midweek match with the second-ranked team in the country 4-12 overall while the Trojans boasted a nearly perfect 10-1 mark on the season.
After Mount Olive scored an unearned run in the first inning, Queens responded with three runs of its own in the home half and held the potent UMO offense hitless until the fifth inning of play. The Trojans used a three-run fifth inning to even the score at 4-all before and RBI single from infielder
Nick Melton put the Royals ahead for good.
The Royals used eight arms out of the bullpen to hold Mount Olive to just four hits on the day as starter
Garrett Crisp earned his first career win on the mound. At the plate,
Dominic Ford,
Carter Foster,
Drake Harris,
Anthony Orta and
Alex Sexton each had multi-hit games.

Women's Team Winner – Softball vs Lenoir-Rhyne University on March 14, 2021
The Queens University of Charlotte softball team used a complete game performance from right-hander
Victoria Elder to shut out regional power Lenoir-Rhyne University by a 9-0 score at the Tuckaseegee Dream Fields in South Atlantic Conference play.
Elder allowed just four hits to the Bears offense and
McKenzie McCullen went 2-for-5 at the plate with two home runs and five RBI for the Royals to give the team just its second conference win of the season. Both sides were scoreless through the first two innings until Queens broke through for three runs in the third and six more in the fourth to claim victory.
