CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team will take on the Coker University Cobras this afternoon in the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Championship game at Bessant Field.
The Royals advanced to today's final after defeating Newberry by a score of 3-2 in the semifinals.

Ellie Fitzgerald, and
Jill Sherman each scored a goal in the win while
Avian Thompson recorded seven saves. It is the third consecutive year that the Royals have made it to the finals, though they have yet to win one.
The Cobras advanced after defeating top-seeded Limestone, 2-1. Britt Kabo and Coda Fisher each scored in the match while goalkeeper Kelsey Gibbons totaled two saves.
The Royals and the Cobras met on March 19 in Hartsville, S.C., with the Royals coming out victorious. Queens held 3-1 lead early in the second half before Coker scored back-to-back goals to equalize the match.
Gabe Lechner then scored the game-winning goal in the 53
rd minute to give the Royals the 4-3 league win.
Currently, Queens leads the all-time series with the Cobras, 4-1, having lost in 2018 by a score of 4-3. The Royals swept the Cobras during the 2019 season.
