CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The sixth-ranked Queens University of Charlotte Royals cruised to victory on Senior Day as they beat UVA Wise, 23-5. The win moves the Royals overall record to 10-1 and the team stays perfect in South Atlantic Conference play improving to 8-0.
Leading the charge for Queens was none other than

Rachel Perrett who netted five goals to finish the day with six points.
Ally Blood added four points of her own with a goal and a trio of assists.
Sydney Bracken also finished with four points on a pair of goals and two assists.
Shannon Donovan and
Jordan Brown each ended up with three points scoring two goals and adding an assist. Additionally, defenders

Lexi Willets each scored their first collegiate goals in the win.
A bit surprisingly Queens did not fly out of the starting gate at the beginning of this contest, as the first five minutes did not see a goal. It was the Cavaliers who struck first breaking the deadlock. This was the exact wake-up call the Royals needed as they answered forty-five seconds later and did not look back. Queens would go on to score 13 more unanswered goals as their offensive firepower was far too much for UVA Wise to handle. The Royals were not just able to impose their will with the ball, but their overwhelming defense caused a number of turnovers, which they turned into offensive chances. Queens took a wide margin of 14-1 into the break.
The Royals started right where they left off scoring just over a minute into the second half. However, the Cavaliers would not roll over this time but instead responded a minute later showing they still had some fight in them. Queens would squash any hopes of a comeback with a five-goal run spanning six minutes to extend their lead to 20-2. The Royals then eased their foot off the accelerator in the last 15 minutes but put the icing on top of a fantastic Senior Day performance with a three-goal run.
Queens outshot the Cavaliers 35-16 and managed to get 31 on target as UVA Wise finished with 11. The Royals were able to limit their turnovers to 13 as the Cavaliers committed 20. Queens also executed their clear to near perfection ending the day 13-of-15 for an 86 percent success rate. UVA Wise ran into a red-hot Royals ride resulting in the Cavaliers going just 9-of-19 for a 47 percent success rate. Queens did not shy away from the ground game as they collected 18 ground balls and UVA Wise had 10. The Royals also won 19-of-29 draw controls.
The Queens Royals are back in action Saturday, April 17 as they travel to Salisbury, North Carolina to face Catawba. The clash with the Indians is set for a 7 p.m. start.
