Queens Rebounds With Sweep of Coker to End Three-Match Road Trip

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team picked up its second sweep of the season on Tuesday night, defeating Coker University by scores of 25-10, 25-19, 27-25 inside The DeLoach Center.
 
Queens (2-1, 2-1 SAC) had a season-high nine service aces, including four from Lindsay Elmore, and held the Cobras (1-2, 1-2 SAC) to a .019 hitting performance in the win.
 
In the first set, Queens hit .333 with just three attack errors while keep the Cobras at bay with a .000 hitting mark to claim a 15-point win and 1-0 match lead. The second set held much of the same for the Queens' defense, forcing the Cobras to hit -.028 and build a 2-0 lead.
 
The third and final set saw Coker get out to a lead as large as seven points, 15-8, following a service ace. However, the Royals responded with an 8-1 run to even the score at 16-all before taking an 18-17 lead on a kill from Casey Tarvin.
 
The lead changed hands twice down the stretch and the Royals needed extra points before putting the match away with a Tarvin kill and JayCee Jones service ace.
 
Tarvin led the way with 14 kills on .344 hitting from the outside to go along with 15 digs, while Chanel Turner had 14 kills of her own. Brooke Farley finished with 27 assists from her setter position and Jones recorded 10 digs on the back row.
 
Queens returns to action this Friday when the team hosts Lincoln Memorial University it its first home game of the season inside Curry Arena at 7 p.m.
