CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball team got back to its winning ways on Tuesday night, earning a 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-17) sweep of Lees-McRae College inside Curry Arena.
The Royals improved to 8-9 overall after totaling nine service aces and holding the Bobcats (0-11) to a -.071 hitting percentage, the second lowest opponent hitting percentage in program history.
Queens never trailed in the opening set of play and led 1-0 in the match after forcing the Bobcats to -.207 hitting mark. In the second set, the Royals once again held LMC to negative performance at the net as a 10-point service run from sophomore
Daniel Leitao brought Queens from a 6-3 deficit to a 13-6 advantage at the midway point.
The third and final set was never in doubt as built an early 6-1 lead before cruising to the sweep.
Senior
Josh Bragg led all players with 10 kills, while sophomore
Jack Brinkman followed with nine kills, seven digs and four total blocks. Leitao guided the offense with 28 assists and finished with eight digs and four service aces.
The Royals play on the road tomorrow night against King University (Tenn.) at 6 p.m.
