GAFFNEY, S.C. – Queens University of Charlotte Head Women's Volleyball Coach
Hannah Long collected her 450
th career coaching victory on Saturday afternoon as the Royals earned a 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-16) sweep of Limestone University inside Timken Gymnasium.
Queens (5-3, 5-3 SAC) hit just 119 in the match, but as is a staple of Long's teams over the years, the defense provided a spark. The Royals held Limestone (2-5, 2-5 SAC) to a -.047 hitting mark, collected seven total blocks and 66 digs along the way.
The Royals held the Saints to a negative hitting mark in each of the three sets, forcing 30 total hitting errors in the match. In the third and final set, Queens built a lead as large as nine points on several occasions, ending the match with a kill from
Victoria Wood.
Nine different players recorded a kill for Queens in the match, led by a team-high seven kills and nine digs from
Casey Tarvin.
Lindsay Elmore and
Logan Witt followed with five kills each from the middle and
Brooke Farley had 23 assists and seven digs.
Defensive, JayCee jones led all players with 17 digs as well as two service aces, while
Kate Majewski and
Chanel Turner tallied 13 and 10 digs, respectively.
Queens returns home to close out the regular season next week with two matches inside Curry Arena. The Royals host Wingate University on Tuesday, March 30 at 7 p.m. before hosting Tusculum University on Saturday, April 3 in the regular season finale.
