Men's Volleyball Celebrates Senior Night With Four-Set Victory Over Barton

POST-MATCH INTERVIEW WITH HEAD COACH JEREMY PRICE

CHARLOTTE, N.C.
 – The Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball team celebrated its annual Senior Night in style, taking down the Barton College Bulldogs for the first time in program history via a 3-1 (25-18, 25-17, 30-32, 25-15) score inside Curry Arena.

Seniors Josh Bragg, Nic Cavallaro and Ruben Greenstein were each honored in a pre-match ceremony for their contributions to the program. Bragg finished with a double-double of 12 kills (.435) and 10 digs, while Cavallaro followed with 10 kills and seven digs of his own. Greenstein had five digs on defense from his libero position.

The Royals improved to 12-9 overall and won their fifth straight match behind a .342 hitting performance and six service aces, including four from Tristan Santoyo and two from Daniel Leitao.

After hitting .542 in a first set triumph, the Royals rallied from an early deficit in the second set to build a 17-12 lead and force a Barton timeout in the late stages of the second frame. Santoyo ended the set with a kill to put Queens ahead 2-0 in the match.

The Bulldogs avoided elimination with a win in the third set, using extra point to claim a 32-30 lead before Queens hit .440 in the fourth frame to seal the home win.

Santoyo led Queens with 14 kills and a .323 hitting mark, while JP Payne tallied 11 kills and a .444 hitting performance from the middle. Leitao paced the offense with 49 assists and eight digs of his own. Guillermo Jordan led the defense with 10 digs on the back row.

The Royals begin a three-match road swing to end the regular season on Friday, March 26 when the team travels to Greeneville, Tennessee for a conference match against Tusculum University at 7 p.m.
