Queens Overpowers Newberry on the Road

NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team (2-1-1, 2-1 SAC) shutout the Newberry Wolves (3-2, 1-2 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference play defeating them 3-0 on the road.

The Royals came out hot offensively as Emma Rose Stockton scored the first goal in just the second minute of action. Mia Manuel recorded the assist on the goal. Manuel would then score her own goal, unassisted, in the 19th minute to give Queens a comfortable 2-0 lead to head into halftime.

The second half was quiet until Queens' Alyssa Edwards put an exclamation mark on the win with a goal assisted by Manuel in the 83rd minute.

Queens would lead Newberry in shots, totaling 13 to their four. Additionally, the Royals' defense didn't let the Wolves put a single shot on goal. Queens finished the night with seven shots on goal.

Erica Turner collected the clean sheet in goal for Queens.

The Royals return to action next Thursday, March 18, in conference play taking on Anderson at home. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
